The usual metal flakes, maybe just a bit larger than "normal", but nothing I would even think about.

This beast is a quarter century old but drives like new.

Only time that many metal flakes are normal is during the first break-in, or when the engine is eating itself from excess wear.

As ZeeOSix says that many metal flakes are not normal after break in, this is excess wear, something is starting to fail. Most of the additives you mention are not good for long term use, they thin out the oil.

I performed a multiday piston soak, periodically turning the engine with a wrench.

Filter looks fine. The large pieces of metal debris is concerning.

I'd say you got you buck 50 cents worth. Well wicked. Seam area pleat spacing could be better but looks to have made through the interval. Good to see you're keeping those additive cos. in biz.

Despite this, I am sure the engine will still run like a top until the transmission gives out, which will not be any time soon.
