Yes, a whole year. Engine laps about a quart per 1000 miles purring away.

Top ups were many Mobil 1, Rislone, MMO, Motorkote, "Heinz 57" bottle of drippings, this kitty laps it up.

Got this filter from the clearance aisle at Walmart for buck50

Runs like a top, bound to be a few ugly critters in the media after a year.

This beast is a quarter century old but drives like new.

As ZeeOSix says that many metal flakes are not normal after break in, this is excess wear, something is starting to fail. Most of the additives you mention are not good for long term use, they thin out the oil.

Only time that many metal flakes are normal is during the first break-in, or when the engine is eating itself from excess wear.
I performed a multiday piston soak, periodically turning the engine with a wrench.

Hopefully all is fine.

If its a harder working engine may be normal but I do see one massive chunk in particular. Motor on since its running fine.

Yes, the metal debris looks bad. Darn you Eric & Gary hawking that Motorkote

Despite this, I am sure the engine will still run like a top until the transmission gives out, which will not be any time soon.

Currently installed is a Supertech 3614 20k
