It will be interesting to see what happens to the Fram, Microgard and Honeywell Defense filters that are Made in Canada. Unfortunately the Canadian Fram plant is closing. Past post about it:

Also a past post about Fram/Champ consolidating:

At least here in Canada, the Fram PH4967 was made here as well as the Honeywell and all the rebranded equivalents. I know most of the current Motomaster (Canadian Tire) line of filters are rebranded Frams. These would likely be the same ones as the Microgards.

Certain Fram part numbers sold here have been Made in USA for a long time. I would imagine they would remain the same. Anyways, the question, with the factory closing will they just move the entire production machine to a different plant and keep the filters the same, or will they source the previous Canadian made filters from an entirely different factory? Example no more made in Canada PH4967, maybe they would just use all Champ Labs filters of their style from their factory to fill the void.

Honda and Subaru dealers.

The Honda/Fram filter is a well made a filter. I would not hesitate using. I do not beleive there will be any benefit from using a different filter unles you want to do extended intervals (although the manual claims the Honda filter only needs to be changed every 20k miles).

Me too-now I just hope it's not made out of cardboard (er-ENGINEERED MEDIA)!

I think the bottom level Frams are also a little short on media.

The local AAP store is shrinking the Fram area on it's shelves, and expanding the Purolator area. Great!

Their prices are very competitive as well locally.

I am also going to grab one of their tough guard air filters for my jeep wrangler just as long as its not made in china or mexico, last one i bought was made in canada.

Watched the videos kinda interesting. I used to use micro guard even when they switched from being purolator to from. Never had a problem . My family swears by wix I bought one for my Saturn for 6 bucks and some change the micro is 2.50 and fram is 3.00 is wix really worth double?

Some pretty good videos with lots of accurate technical information. Thanks for posting!
