Fram outsources low volume cartridges and some spin ons. When volume increases they are brought in house. The CH9911 cartridge is one example of that.
As for Fram cartridges in general and Ultra more specifically, based on anecdotes posted I don't put them in the same class as the spin on applications. I'll leave it at that.
Thank you for the responses everyone. At least at my local walmart at this time, the CH10855 does still have the Mahle stamp on the bottom and sells for about $10. The package also states that it is good for both conventional and synthetic.
