I, like many here, have been warned and soured by an overly aggressive word censor.
I'm not really interested in creating more forum sludge or insulting the mods here or wanting to hear
if you don't like it get lost. So please spare me.
Common words here are censored and that brings on warnings and that upsets the poster and mods- owner.
Forums survive on donations. If you constantly warn and insult quality posters here they don't feel like the community
and they do not donate. I for one do not want to see or read a bunch of profanity. I see why religion and politics
are a no go. That is obvious. I have run my own forums since the 90's and I don't know how this word censor works but
I had the option of a manual one and I put in the words most people here do not want to see.
That captures the bad stuff without being overly aggressive and that stops the mods work and takes egos out of the mix.
For me to post a thread about cleaning bird mess off of windows I can't use the c word or the p word.
You can't say the opposite of Heaven here and a bad car can't be called the c word but only "junk"
If you override the censor you get the warning I did yesterday. This is a great place but insulting clean posters
makes them think twice about donating. And this week I was going to do so but am now put off that one little clean word I try to use will get me banned. So why contribute?
Many will not care. Those same people have no idea what it cost to host a forum. Over zealous mods may feed their egos
but how does that help the forum or its owner?
A simple reconfiguring of the word censor would go a long way in resolving the pettiness.
Just my 2 cents!
And yes if you don't override the censor you won't get a warning. That takes that off the list.
How many people here were contacted for over-riding the censor and warned and decided not to donate or left for a time?
How many newbies here were beaten to death verbally for asking who makes the best this or that? No warnings come
down for that activity. At worst the thread gets locked. But you can't say bird c here.
