Not sure if I'm going to put the bike on the road this year or not, but if I do one of my maintenance items will be fork oil. Its spec'd for 10wt and last time I used Bel-Ray 10wt fork oil with fine results. I have no issues using this again but I have an amalgamation of mountain biek fork oils (I think finish line) as well; are these the same thing and interchangeable?

Yeah I am aware of people running ATF. A quart of synthetic ATF is close in cost to a quart of dedicated fork oil, so thats kind of a wash. I'd like to figure out if what I have on hand is a good choice.

Forks are not picky. The thicker the oil, the more the damping. Though if the seals break, you will not have damping, you will have dampening.
