So I forgot to rotate summer tires after my first 8K b/c I had winter tires, now what do you guys recommend after this brainfart?

Do I continue with the regular rotation system? Or is there a way to fix this?

there is nothing to fix.

Most people are overly obsessing over the purpose and benefits of tire rotation

If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll rotate my tires about every 30k miles. Once per life of the tires. Or if the front are wearing down, I'll move them to the rear.

I wouldn't worry. I now find it easier to do the rotation at the same time as my seasonal changeover, without actually paying any mind to what mileage is racked up on the tires between the seasonal changeovers (has varied between only 8,000 km to over 15,000 km). Onto my second summer set, and third winter set, all tires that were replaced wore evenly among each set. Wear is not noticeably different than when I followed a fixed interval. Certainly not worth my time to bother with more than necessary.

+1. That's what I do on my Malibu. Equinox I switch front to back and cross the rears. Usually do it twice a year.

Thanks all! Little peace of mind lol

I will start doing it next time I put on my winter tires and put a minder/tape on my summer tires future rotation.

Do you guys got any DIY ideas to mark them without having to buy specialty pens?

I bought a tire crayon off amazon for when i rotate as for snow. But before that i would use either a ball point pen or even a magic marker. You do not need much to mark the tire if they are stored inside.

A set of jack stands, or two jacks, makes roations easier. But if you rotate the spare as part of it it should be trivial.

I dont mark tires for rotations, just for winter/summer changeover.

I love the notion of just doing work every 5k. I will short change--or skip--as needed to get onto this, then just do it on the 5's. Or 10, if the case be. Then all i have to do is look at the odo.

My truck came with 73k on it. I skipped the 75k rotation, and changed oil at 80k. Done.
