Ford to Move Pickup Production From Mexico to Ohio

Good to see more production here. Now I just wish Dodge will start producing their regular cab pickup trucks here. They are currently assembled in Saltillo, MX

Ford has been loosing money on the E-Series Econolines and Club Wagons for many years. And now they have an all new and thoroughly modern competitor in the field, the Nissan NV (built in Mississippi). Toyota is also working on a full sized van. Ford was going to have to do a complete ground-up redesign if they were going to be competitive in the future. I am not surprised that Ford is pulling the plug, Dodge was the first to see the writing on the wall, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if GM soon did the same.

It'll catch on as the dollar continues to fall.

Throw in vastly increased US energy production and a glut of cheap natural gas which will be turned into cheap electricity and you have a perfect storm if you will for a resurgence of manufacturing in this country.

The shine of outsourcing is wearing off.

You really nailed this one, and squarely.

This is not because of any patriotism from Ford.

Except for the MB/Dodge/Freightliner Sprinters one sees via FedEx, etc.

Cheers!

Huh? Around here pretty much every white van is an E-series. And other colors too. There's the occasional GM and rarely a Dodge (they fell apart very quick).

I still see plenty of Ram Vans on the road...even ten years after they went out of production. (The livery company I worked for still has several, most over 200K and a couple past 300K.)
