Ford recalling 550,000 pickup trucks; transmission issues

I considered that, but no fuel = no trans pump ‐- or at least reduced pressure (assuming auto) = no or very little direct connection from d/s to crank

If anything I'd expect to crater a d/s or u-joint before most engines would scatter?
my old boss towed his jeep behind his motorhome. He left the jeep in 1st gear and headed home. 60 mph on the fwy and pieces were flying out of the jeep engine .Threw all 6 rods and put all 12 pushrods out the aluminum valve cover like a porky pine

Wouldn't a rev limiter just shut 'er down?

According to 6R80 literature, The low reverse clutch comes on 'til like 3 or 4 MPH to help support the Low Roller Clutch.

If the Low Reverse Clutch were to come on at highway speeds one of 2 things would happen.....
1. The rear tires lock down
2. The engine will be brought to reduction speed of 1st gear

My 2014 Mustang GT 6R80 acted real strange a couple of times.
1. Cruising along in town in 5th gear.
2. Apply moderate throttle.
3. Shift up to 6th gear and run for about 1 second.
4. Bang all the way down to 1st and run for about 0.5 second.
5. 0.25 second in 2nd.
6. 0.25 second in 3rd
7. Pulls cleanly in 4th where it should have went to instantly.

I learned to get off of it instantly if it upshifted when it should have downshifted.

It never did it again after the tune revisions we made when we installed the Supercharger. Possibly because of some of the restrictions we set.
