I was at the Ford dealer and I thought this was interesting. Motorcraft now has the 44k fuel system cleaner. I also got the MOA oil additive as part of a free oil change promotion. I've seen rebranded Techron at BMW but never the BG products being pushed by Ford.

Yeah, lots of dealers and other shops push that stuff, and some are even OE branded, but I never thought BG would be sold as OE stuff!

BG seems like gimmicky even by snake oil standards, though there are more reputable brands that do have OE labeled cleaners.

So my question is, does this contract with Ford change anybody's opinions on BG 44K (and other stuff they make)?

I have to admit, I almost got bit by the snake (oil). It's a legit looking can and who doesnt always have those dirty injector images in their mind? The MOA additive was free so obviously I was fine with that being added. No issues before or after.

My experience, I'll put BG44k as VRP/HPL after years of use of Techron and other quality synthetics.

Never noticed a difference using Techron, thought I was maintaining clean. Then I used 44k and had documented MPG improvement, more power. Just like others and myself experience the VRP/HPL carbon cleaned out from areas after years of use of other highly recommended full synthetic oils.

YMMV but for me BG44k works. Dealers doing the rebranding for the extra profit but maybe actually to have something with their part #'s to use that actually works.

BG 44K is the real deal IMO, I have used other off the shelf fuel system cleaners out of the rest, 44K has given me, friends and my customers immediate results to tell me about it. I never posted a photo here, out of curiosity I did ran 3 cans of 44K, 1 can per full tank fill before changing my spark plugs on my previously owned vehicle and the combustion chamber, piston tops was squeaking clean as if it rolled off new out of the dealer lot.

So, what's in it? It's not PEA since I think that needs to be listed on the SDS. Otherwise it is just a bunch of solvents.

Do people have negative opinions on BG products? AFAIK the products are legit, people just don't like the way they are typically sold and marketed.

In GM service bulletins they recommend against explicit fuel system cleaning (hooking a closed loop injector cleaning solvent system to the fuel rail). But they do recommend running a can of their BG 44k with a tank of gas every oil change if you want to.

I can post up the bulletin later.
