Ford MC Full Synthetic= POK??

I was at the local car parts store (Advance Auto) and see they carry MC Full Synth. I picked up 6 qts. & a PureOne filter for my next OC. I thought $4.99 a qt. is a nice price for full synth. I was putting it away when returning home and noticed the back of the lable reads... "Product of Korea" followed by "Blended and Bottled in the USA". Am I wrong or is that a bit unusual? Also is this stuff OK oil?

A very good oil. A product of Korea probably means from a Korean oil field. Like Mobil or Penn is from anywhere there is oil being pumped from the ground.

Sounds like the POK thing is not such a big deal afterall. I'm gonna give this stuff a whirl next OC. I'll get a used oil analysis at some point too. I'm looking for an alternative to the RP I have been using as it gets quite pricey especially since I go with 5000 mi OICs

I'd rather think "Product of Korea" refers to the refinement process itself, rather than an indicator of where the oil was pumped from the ground. I think Korea also has become a refinement center for production of Group III oils in the past few years. "Blended and Bottled in the USA" would indicate to me that the Group III base oil had its additive package blended and bottle up in the US.

I spent 13 months in Korea some time ago, and never saw (or heard of since) of their ever having any natural resources, to speak of, like oil wells. Korea, for the most part, is natural resource poor, but what they do have is a strong will to achieve, a hard work ethic, and a desire to better themselves...and are some of the best people G-O-D ever made!

Korea makes a lot of good quality Group III base stocks, and I believe that is the only Group III that Conoco-Phillips uses. They buy the stock and add their own additives and bottle it. I believe I read that Valvoline also uses these stocks.

Yep, if you read the back of of the bottle of various brands you will see phrases like "made in the USA from imported components". I would say that is true whether they say it or not for almost all oils except Brad Penn, Gulf and maybe a few other true synthetics. Pretty hard not to use oil from somewhere else these days. Does not make it a bad finished product at all. I think Conoco Phillips is using ROK components in all of their products including MC.
