Hello all,

The owners manual on my 2017 C-Max calls (specifically) for:

WSS-M2C947-A

I'm looking at an oil that says it; "Meets requirements of API SN-Plus, SN, SM, or SL and ILSAC GF-5 or GF-4".

It also claims to "EXCEED ALL GM requirements (GM dexos1, Gen 2) worldwide" which sounds good, but is it PROPER (does it meet Ford Spec.) for a 2017 HYBRID 2.0 (or 2.0 Hybrid)?

THX in advance as always, folks!!

Here you go, and yes it’s outdated. A SP rated oil would be better.

In general I don't think the Ford Spec really offers anything specific over the current API/ILSAC rating, in an EcoBoost motor, I always recommend finding something carrying the latest GM Dexos 1 approval, since Dexos1G3 is probably the most stringent spec that expands on SP/GF-6A to provide better protection to small displacement TGDI engines.

I do now realize this is not a 2.0 ecoboost, but it's still an Atkinson cycle direct injection engine, so using a spec with superior timing chain soot wear requirements is still a good idea.

Try Rock Auto…

Careful, there is semi synthetic and there is full synthetic…

XO0W205QFS is full synthetic,
XO0W205Q3SP is semi synthetic…
The blend 0W20 from Motorcraft is no more. So that would be new old stock.
