No its as red like any other ATF. It doesn't stay very red for too long though. After 15-20k miles it loses its red coloring pretty quick. Our Mazda2 had 32k miles on it and when I did a cooler line flush what came out was almost as dark as new engine oil, maybe with a slight pinkish haze to it.
My local Mazda dealer wants over $11 per quart, the local Ford dealers are around $9.50. I did some googling and found an Arizona based parts supplier that sells the Idemitsu M5 quart bottles, case of 12 for $86 with free shipping. That's the cheapest I have found it.
