The pro looks like a decent deal. The rest is just adding more overpriced stuff that will fail. Hopefully some useful things will be available a la carte for reasonable prices.

Im not a huge fan of Ford trucks, but the pro is intriguing to me for the price.

Agree'd. $13000 for the bump to the XLT seems like a rip off. There is not THAT much content there.

I have a feeling the Pro is subsidized because they know people won't want to buy those.

I can say with great certainty I would forget that the front was a space where I could store things until I accidentally opened it with the key fob and it revealed itself to me like a hidden room in a haunted house.

Imagine what it will be in another 25 yrs... we’ll need 30 yrs notes to pay for them. And I’m not talking about the houses.
Most folks are very accustomed to making continuous monthly payments on their vehicles. My guess is most won't notice if the duration gets extended from 5-7 years to 30. Eventually they'll just trade it in and the remaining balance will roll into the new loan and follow you to the grave, at which point it'll be the next of kin's problem. :)

Pro with extended range is what I’m getting. Nothing more. But it almost seems too good to be true. Let’s see if ford actually keeps their word and delivers the base pro without any catch, like forcing you to buy into a expensive package just to get extended range.

Assuming $10k for the extended range, $50k isn’t all that bad for a crew cab half ton with 400+ hp, awd, and doesn’t use gasoline. I almost traded my Tacoma for a F150 hybrid but they were priced around 55-60k, and even though it’s a hybrid the 30 gallon tank seems to counter any money saved by going with a hybrid.

Just don’t leave a watermellon in there…

Ask me how I know…

Curious, how ya gonna charge? What will you use the truck for?

I have level 2 charging in the garage right now. 99.999% of my mileage is local and within 40 miles. Truck is used for PM work. I dont do PM work full time so majority of its use is just commuting and errands. The Tacoma is the perfect size for me, just lacking a little bit of payload capability/towing power for when I have a big project on hand

I don’t like half ton as I think they’re too wide for these narrow upstate NY streets. But the main selling point on the lightning is it being a full BEV. I’m getting sick of gas prices fluctuating. Plus driving around a massive battery pack will come in handy when I work on a house without electricity.

Am i reading this correctly, roughly $50,000 of trim spread? This is an absurd amount of money for trim and features. Is the Pro underpriced or they just sticking it to those that can pay for more?

A mystery of the universe.

It darn well better be something useful and meaningfully good, for that much optioning, options worth more than the platform itself, to be added like that.

You step into the Ford dealer and tell the greeter you're here to look at a Ford Lightning.
"Oh, we have a special salesman for those."

A man that looks like Gene Wilder comes rushing towards you and breaks out into song to the tune of "A World of Pure Imgination" from Willy Wonka.

"Come with me and you’ll be
In a world of package integration
Take a look and you’ll see
Into your financial limitations
We’ll begin with Pro trim
Working our way through each iteration
What we’ll see will defy explanation!"

1) The PRO has power up-down front trunk standard? Gotta be the "show off" option.

2) Old, crusty me has to learn what all these options are: SYNC?, Co-pilot 360 Driver Assist Technology (nanny?), landscape touch screen?

3) What do these vehicles weigh? Are the springs etc. real butch? Tires?

4) Are these aluminum bodied?

Either ford has broken even on F150 tooling costs that they can afford to sell the Pro at $40k, or Ford is taking a gamble hoping not too many people buy the Pro. Statistics show that majority buyers will opt for a mid to high trim packages in this price range. I would not be surprised if the the upper end trucks have enough profit margin to compensate for the $40k Pro.

Also, the extended range battery cost $10k on the Pro and only $7k on XLT and up. That’s $3k profit for them right there.
