Looks like Volvo (the truck company, not the car company) acquired them in 2002. That's from their history page.

They still have their own engine family.

2000:
On December 18, 2000 the United States Department of Justice approved the acquisition of Mack by AB Volvo, Sweden.

2003:
The production of Mack CH and VISION Model trucks was moved from the Mack Winnsboro, SC Plant to the VOLVO New River Valley Plant at Dublin, VA.

Yep, read below that though, the acquisition actually took place in 2002 though; it was approved in 2000.

Indeed, Doug went out of his way for sure!

The bailout has failed! GM is looking to hire bankruptcy lawyers. If GM fails, hopefully will not bring Ford down.

Hi,
Pablo - Thanks for the info on PACCAR there. They have a "build to order" Plant here (near Melbourne) and recently put off about a third of their staff. They sought Govt help but were refused thank goodness

IMHO they would be better to close the Plant here and import "to order" direct from NA like Freightliner does

I can't see GM's failure bringing down Ford. As long as Ford can get parts to build vehicles, they will likely capitalize on sales to people who are now scared to buy a GM. I see this working out favourably for Ford.
