So I got a old 1983 LTD Foxbody, 3.8L with AOD trans. When I got the car, I've noticed that the shifter needed adjustment as well as the TV rod (not cable). So I adjusted the shifter and where good there, however reverse barely engages unless pedal is depressed and overdrive would slip under light throttle. So I did a rough adjustment on it. By rough i mean not by line pressure, what I did was loosing the bolt, pushed rod to stop, and lever to stop, and adjusted the set screw in the middle. Shifts perfect now and no slipping, BUT 3rd shift is very hard upshift or down. Does anyone have any insight to why that could be? Fluid and filter have been changed with merc/dex.

Drive is split 60/40, 60% is through the inner direct shaft, 40% is cushioned by the torque convertor, it will always be a lot harsher than other transmissions going in and out of drive, follow Ripcords advice, set it by the manual, I think they advise 0 psi, 5 psi worked great for me.
