My '08 Mustang with the 3V 4.6 is filled with M1 5W20. I drive about 3k a year usually on joy rides every week or so for 30-45 minutes. It's garage kept.

The cuurent fill is 1800 mi at 1 year. Is it a waste to change it?

Yes. I have a 04 Mustang and run synthetic. The last oil change had 10k miles with 1.5 years of age in the crankcase. Was told to extend oil change to 12k miles after UOA performed.

Send out a sample for testing. That should clearly let you know if the additive package is doing it's job. I suspect you won't have any issues.

I have a number of engines that see infrequent use. Those engines do not get yearly oil changes. However, I do use a Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck or M1 15W-50 in them. Both are very robust oils.

I'd change it at a year no matter how many miles. If you can afford to have a toy you rarely drive, you can afford a $35-40 oil change. I wouldn't waste $ on the UOA, because that could be put towards the oil change. Just my opinion...

Sounds good to me. I had a modded 07 GT same engine. I changed it twice a year because I wanted to. It will be fine Change it once a year before you put it away for the winter.

I have a truck 5.4L 3V and run a mileage only schedule and that was 8,500-10,000 depending on whether it was mineral or synthetic. I now have bypass filtration, so that's all going to change... probably to a three year interval max. Oil doesn't have a wristwatch. BTW, my intervals above were verified by UOAs.

My Marauder is past two years on it's current OCI of M1 0W-40... Only has approx 2500 miles I may change it, Uhhh one of these days...

Rarely short tripped, it's run for at least 20-30 minutes 95% time when I take it out...

My '02 only gets about 3k a year and it sits for four months. I change it annually. A year just seems like a long time to me and since it's relatively easy to do it's no big deal.
