which one to buy???…I have seen so much conflicting information for the fluid to use in my 2005 Yukon Denali AWD transfer case.

Owners manual lists Dexron lll H

Valvoline lists Dex/Merc covers Dexron lll (but doesn’t list the latest H version)
Valvoline lists Maxlife Multi Vehicle as covering Dex lll H

what is recommended here by owners of GMT800 vehicles with AWD all the time like in the Yukon Denali/Cadillac Escalade from 2005 or older where the OM recommends Dex lll H???

AutoTrak ll is for newer vehicles or those that are not AWD all the time (non-selectable)

your help and experience is appreciated...

I think @FowVay had the best answer here in Post #3

This is assuming it's a BW. AFAIK the Denalis were single speed AWD t-cases as you say, so likely a BorgWarner

You can still get good ol' Dex/Merc (ie Dex III), so if that's what GM said in 2005, you can still do that if you don't want to source the other stuff (I'm resistant to special ordering any fluid if there's a readily available, more common substitute, but that's just me)

3h is a better longer drain version of 3 and i'd be surprised if the valvoline ones aren't at least equal to if not better than dex 3h. But plain old whatever d/m labeled atf would be fine if changed sooner. I think i'd rather use castrol transmax atf/cvt and i'll probably use that next time. It's a full synthetic that has dex 3h listed and is thicker than maxlife but will retain that higher viscosity better the non full syn dex 3 viscosity fluids.

MaxLife is listed as full synthetic while Valvoline Blue jug is not...
I guess I should have elaborated more

That's true which why I wouldn't use either valvoline options but both can be used. I like full syn and the 7 cst viscosity of transmax. But dex 3h can be made with just group 2 but i imagine valvoline dex is a syn blend given it has a better mrv at 15,000 compared to other dex 3 fluids like st/mag 1 at 18,500 while still having the same kv40 and 100. The mag 1/St dex 3 is also H rated but i imagine there's no group 3 in it at all while the valvoline has some. Castrol transmax is a full syn at the same 7 cst but at an mrv of 9200

Hmm do you know if the Valvoline Extended Protection lists 3h? That could be another option. Obviously I could just go look at the specs but I don't care enough at the moment.....

I remember it only having dex 3 and none of the others like auto trak and the previous ones but i can't see how it wouldn't last much longer than 3h. I just like the touch higher viscosity of transmax.

If you can find the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, which was a Dex III, that is a good ATF. Of course, Dex III is replaced by DexVI, which is a little thinner, however once the DexIII wears down it becomes just as thin as DexVI, which is a hardier fluid being synthetic.

Or if you’re feeling saucy, Amsoils ATF would be excellent. It’s a great ATF and has been my goto for everything driveline. The signature series is a bit more fortified if I recall. @Pablo could probably offer you advice if youre interested.
