I just changed the torque converter on my 2001 Audi S4, I did a pan drop and filter change 4k before the TC swap hoping that would fix my lockup problem but it didn't so I had to replace the converter, all the box said was to use a high quality synthetic fluid and the converter was pre filled with fluid, once I got the car running I had to add another 1.5L of fluid to completely fill it back up since I had the cooler lines disconnected and lost some there.

Should I drain and fill the trans again? All the problem with the torque converter was was that the internal seal failed not allowing it to lock up.

I figure you're fine. A seal failure won't let shrapnel into everything.

I did a TC on a saturn that wouldn't UNlock. As you can imagine it shuddered to a stalling stop, and some kickdown shifts were jarring in quality. I filled to spec and it ran fine.

So the actuator seal for the TCC lockup was leaking?

yes, search p0741 audi s4 on google and you'll see its a common problem, my old converter you could feel sometimes it would half lock and still slip and with the scan tool hooked up when driving the slip count just kept going up when it should not have.

Had the same issue on my A6 and had the converter replaced. Just use Maxlife to refill the trans to the proper level.

Note, this did not cure my P0741 problem as it seems that the valve body had been the culprit. So if you still see the TCC not engaging or even disengaging when lightly accelerating at highway speed (this is what mine is doing) you may need to rebuild or replace the valve body.

Mine locks up rock solid now, also installed SSAC catless 3" tiptronic downpipes, no more engine light and this thing pulls like a freight train now. Put about 200 kms on it since I reinstalled the engine and no issues yet.
