The big advantage over other flex ducts is the smooth interior. Anyone with experience using this duct?

Might want to check your dryer warranty..if it is still under one...On my Whirlpool using a flex type hose will void it...

I always use a short length of aluminium flex hose to connect the dryer. Dryers, being light weight, gets pushed around a bit and rigid ducting doesn't take kindly to being flexed.

Is it UL or other type of approved? I've never seen it.
Depends on installation. Most dryers spec a max of 25 ft. length. Every elbow (90 deg bend) is worth 2 ft. of length. Going through an unheated area with the vent like attic or crawl space then stay with rigid pipe so you can blow it out with a leaf blower.
Use a metal elbow on the back of the dryer so when it creeps back it doesn't kink vent hose closed.

Plastic is not dryer vent it's bathroom fan vent.

If there is a lint fire you don't want any plastic vent hose in the dryer vent system.
No kidding, but I've purchased more than one house with exactly that! Yikes

My previous house had hard ducting under the house, but the run was crazy long. It got wet and clogged really quickly. Disassembly was only way to really clean it. I insulated the duct and that actually helped keep the crap warm and dusty and out. Bad design/build.

2x, duct in an unheated area builds lint quickly and needs to be insulated. Cold wet clothes put a ton of condensation into a cold vent causing lint to stick quickly. It takes a while for dryer to heat and dry its load and then put enough heat down the pipe to dry it out, especially in winter temp. climates.
One of the big disadvantages to an interior 2nd floor laundry room that is not on an exterior wall using attic vents or when additions are built on and builders just extend vents through a crawl space.
I don't think there are codes for dryer vent construction, maybe now but not in the past, so plastic was the quick easy contractor / builder get it done solution for short term.
