Remember, No question is a dumb question...Right?

1. Is a fleece filter made of animal hair?

2. Have long term tests been done?

3. Are there any major manufactures making them?

Thanks for the info...I understand that alot of the new technology in new 2006 engines are going to 13 to 15 thousand mile drains on synthetic oils..Is this also the cast with the fleece filter?
Thanks...

Since ARX's active ingredient is lanolin esters, I wonder if these fleece filters will naturally get rid of sludge in an engine...

So DAVE, are you saying that the Fleece is Lamb's wool?

From Merriam-Webster Online:

quote:

Main Entry: 1fleece
Pronunciation: 'flEs
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English flees, from Old English flEos; akin to Middle High German vlius fleece and perhaps to Latin pluma feather, down
1 a : the coat of wool covering a wool-bearing animal (as a sheep) b : the wool obtained from a sheep at one shearing

Well, it could also be from full-grown sheep.

and Paulo57509 are "U" saying the fleece filter that Chrysler and MB are using is Fraud?

I was hoping that Fleece and Nano filters will be a better/longer alternative to paper..

Well, those are borosilicate. Not fleece in the animal sense of the word. I think you only get fleeced when you buy a Fram

Fleece refers to the physical characteristics of the media rather than origin. I also saw a reference to fibre filter material made of stainless steel.

And, it looks like a number of the MB filters are fleece.

Yes, and this technology is what the company I work for sells. We offer filters for compressed air and natural gases.

These are coalesceing filters which remove oil and water from air lines. It also can be a "combo' filter which removes contaminant as well. Although most units have two elements a coalescer upstream then the contaminant filter ( which can be below .5 micron) downstream. Or prefilter ( coalescer) and filter. It all depends on the manufacturer of the assembly. Watts, Wilkerson, Parker Finite, Zeks, Balston, etc... are some of the manufacturers in this area.

Filter guy, anything further with this filter type? Would the fleece be built around a fine meshing like the Amsoil filter Nano Tech?

On a different note....what do you think about stainless steel fine mesh cleanable filters?
