I am interested in knowing if VII's affect flash point?
I see a known straight 30 wt Phillips oil with a 496 F point. Ok, if the 10/30 Phillips has a 426 flash point and the same CAS # base oil is it the VII's causing the lower flash point ?
Not necessarily. There are most likely two different viscosity base oils and two different additive packages involved, affecting the final flash point.
