Has anyone ever used a Motorcraft FL-810 shorter or FL-400 longer filter in place of a L-14459 Purolator for a Subaru H-6? The FL-810 looks identical even with the number 20 stampted in the same location, the FL-400 has a different by-pass valve and 16 stampted on the threaded end. I would like to use the FL-400 for longer 8000 mile drains with GC. Would really like to find a Toyko Roki OE filter especially if a longer one was available.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I'll venture to say the the 20 and 16 are the thread differences. The 810 and the L14459 are 20x1.5mm threads ..while the FL400 is 3/4-16

I'm not intimately acquainted with the 810 and cannot rattle off the longer (possible) alternatives.

I would just use an OEM or PureOne filter that meets ALL the specs. for your engine. Either filter should easly be good for 8-10,000 miles.

The oversized correctly threaded option for the L14459 is the L24458 which is discontinued.
But, other brands make that size. I use the NapaGold/Wix version.

Check with OEM applications for the bigger filter to see if you can find a ToykoRoki filter in that size. I believe that Honda and Mazda used the l24458 years ago.......
