Been changing oil on my Camry for 10 yrs.and each time the oil light would stay on for about 2 seconds on dry startup.Today the light went off as soon as I released the key. I have always used top shelf filters and have never preloaded the filter.Could it be that this Toyota filter (denso not purolator) flows significantly easier than others I've used (M1,Bosch Dp, Fram Ultra)?

What is a dry start?

It appears that Toyota trades flow rate for filtration and in light of how good oils are, especially TGMO, they may be right.

+1 I believe Honda does as well......so does Harley Davidson.

Has anyone ever seen published figures for the filter? Besides the one Amsoil chart that gets dragged out I mean.

The Toyota filters have more media area than most any other I've seen. Probably twice as much as some other brands of the same size. They waste no space in the can, pleats are closely spaced, and the center tube on a bigger filter is narrow like a smaller filter, = more media -more flow. They also have a wide opening bypass valve. I just bought some new ones, the media looks quite a bit lighter in color than from before. They may have changed the media, or I was looking at filters changing color due to age.
