I just purchased a new-to-me 2022 Tacoma with 20k. It is a TRD OFF ROAD auto. I purchased my '11 Ram 1500 5.7 new, and have driven it since. Definitely got my money out of it.

I've had the Tacoma for less than a week, and so far I really like it. Just wondering if there any things I should look out for?

Thanks!

You trade in the Ram? How many miles did you put on it? Congrats & is that a 4 or 6 cylinder in the Taco? Sorry, I don't know enough about these engines so no help there.

^^+1...mo details, please.
Colco, trim, tires...all of it.
I hope you took care of the '11 RAM and got full value, whatever you did.

Check for square seating of air filter lid and make sure air intake hoses are done-up right.
Look underneath for scrapes.
Locate the PCV valve and any hoses for 'intactness'; same for vacuum lines.
Brake fluid and coolant reservoir check.
Washer fluid....remember to squirt it once in a while.
Battery condition.
Any smokable butts in the ashtray?

I sold the Ram. Had 190k on it. 5.7l. It was an excellent truck. If it wasn't starting to rust away from Michigan, I would have kept it.

It is a 3.5l V6 Taco.

The internet would have you believe that every 5.7 from 2011 ate its camshaft up with failed lifters.. Glad yours was good to you! A friend in my office just got out of a Ram and into a Taco. Biggest difference is the stiffer ride in the Tacoma, which he isn't minding so far. I think you'll be happy with the V-6.

I'm already happier with the MPG's lol

Probably one of the most uncomfortable seating positions in it's class.

I bought some 1 in lift spacers on eBay for the driver seat rear mounts. Still not the greatest but better. IMHO

Well....I appreciate the reply. I was waiting for someone to say I have this view of Toyota seats-and it's false. But the seats (the position actually) are worse (as mentioned on other forums) than the 4Runners...and that's saying something.

Usually you are the rain on everyone's parade but in this case I have to agree 100%. Tacoma seats sit much too low on the floor and force your legs to be much too straight out in front. Maybe they're designed for people with short stubby legs? I find them fatiguing.

So we agree for once. PF52. It was bound to happen!
I really don't intend to "rain" on everyone's parade. But I just call it as I see it-and many don't agree.

My gen1 Tundra also had low seats. I never realized it until reading it here, and then kept on driving it. TBH it didn’t bother me at all - IIRC I just found a good setting and drove it everywhere.

Congrats @Johnny248 - I can’t think of anything but a good maintenance regimen. With 20k on it, it might be time to bleed some fresh brake fluid in to it. If you are feeling frisky you could order a tube of Honda shin-etsu grease from amazon and put a light coating of it on the weather stripping.

Did they improve the trans programming by '22? I service a '17 and the auto is horrible, and that's an understatement. It's just incredibly sluggish and always in the wrong gear. Downshifting is a "yeah, when I get around to it" affair. I imagine the 3.5 is decent but you'll never know it with that transmission.

Anyway, the 3.5 likes to have t-stats fail open and it won't get up to temp. You'll get a CEL if so and it's an easy job.
