Went on a daytrip to bellingham today, tried the Old Country Buffet, walked around bellis fair, decided to check out the walmart to see if they had ultra yet..

The walmart in Bellingham does have Ultra now. Right in the auto section, not in the pressure washer section.

Picked up a 5qt jug with a mopar oil filter, some Pepsi Throwback and on my way I was. I'll probably be using this on my cross country road trip in a couple of months that I was discussing here a few days ago.

Has any other canadians picked up a jug of ultra from the states yet? Or seen it in Canada?

Wonder if that's the same Old Country Buffet that we had here in Illinois that has had the name changed to Hometown Buffet? I know I'm off topic, Sorry.

I'm curious to know what the Ultra does or has that other oils don't do or have ?. Seen the advertisement in the newest auto mags. with the Ferrari, I find it hard to believe that Ferrari would align itself with Penz., but money talks.

So what does this oil do to keep pistons as clean as they advertise, what additives would it have that ohter oils would not ?, just curious.

Shell is the official sponsor of Ferrari's Formula 1 team and technical partner. Shell owns Pennzoil.

Heh.

Yesterday evening, I stopped by my local Wal-Mart (La Habra, California). They still had the Ultra in the pressure washer section, but they changed the price from $18 per 5 qt jug to $28 per 5 quart jug. Boo Hiss!

Even if we do see it in Canada, be prepared for Canadian Tire's high mark-ups. Just returned a couple of quaker state filters at the Ironwood location a few days ago that i had bought a few weeks ago but found Bosch ones a little cheaper in the meanwhile. Yes, there is walmart, but i don't go near their establishments for other reasons.

The new hometown buffet is supposed to have 43% cleaner food.

According to the VOAs, this oil has a heavy dose of boron in it, so that is one of the reasons why it cleans better than other oils.

If you're going to avoid Walmart then you're never going to get a good deal on this oil because Canadian Tire's sale prices never come close to the deals Walmart has on oil.

I have no idea myself. I see noone is concerned with this either. How can an oil clean the top of the piston ?? This is a million dollar question, and any motor in good working condition will have carbon on top of the piston, around head are, valves etc...it's what happens in a gasoline engine. I imagine they could keep the pistons looking like the pictures they show running natural gas, or liquid petroleum, but not gasoline !! I have seen the inside of to many motors, some tear downs with 10 hours or less on them.... the piston tops were not clean UNLESS THE RINGS DID NOT SEAL which means the engine has major issues with blow by, low compression (can be high compression due to oil creating a hydraulic seal).

Ya, I saw the price of edge at the No. 3 Road location a couple weeks ago. A rip off at 40$ for a 4.4L.

You must have gotten the bosch ones at Lordco. They don't put them on the shelf, but they stock them in the back.

I am getting Mobil 1 synthetic, 4.4 L or 5L jugs, from a private seller for $30 so haven't paid those exorbitant prices at Canadian Tire.

A used car dealer in Surrey got the Bosch filters for me. I don't know how much they are at Lordco, but i paid $6.50 for Bosch 3300 filters.
