First Brands (Fram) bankruptcy

I went to four or five Walmarts all over the state of Kansas and I've noticed almost all the frames that were popular numbers are gone. A lot of the other brands are gone too and the oil change manager told me that they found out about what was happening and pulled all that they felt were necessary into the oil change Bay so that they had filters to do oil changes as they had to decline some they didn't have filters for.

What's your definition of a "budget filter"? In your signature you show using STP XL and Fram Endurance. Those aren't super cheap filters (like $3 to $5), so why not just keep using something like the STP XL or the other similar brands under PGI?
I have multiple family member that I does the oil change for. Sometime I did like 3 vehicles at the same time and it’s free lol.

Maybe try the standard Carquest (red label) for $5.79. Everything is more expensive, but don't go too cheap or you'll get junk.

Obviously massive changes and realignment are coming to the markets effected by the First Brands bankruptcy. Fram is apparently gone as well as Champion Labs. Major supply issues are already becoming evident. A lot of main supply systems to Major prime manufacturers like Ford and Honda are already severed. Does anyone have insider insights on what is happening behind the scenes to fill these major supply issues? There's a lot of speculation but few actual facts. I know a lot has to be happening behind the scenes, any real information on what is ongoing to plug massive gaps in the automotive parts supply industry?

I am more bummed about Champ because that was the factory that had the fairly consistent quality down IMO.. at least compared to the other U.S. factories but if they had that leaf spring permanently fixed or changed the design then I would of just stuck with them over the Asian factories.

I ordered some "First Brands" as they had 4 left of the front non cryoed slotted rotors "for my garage stock" from Rock Auto and received the front set. Then a couple day s I decided to order "some stock" for myself of rear slotted and drilled since the slotted only was dropped a couple of years ago. They had 7-day delay marked on it. Well they canceled my order on day 10 as First Brands is not making to order these rotors any more, since they are no longer.

Is there a "Group " or parts consortium that is sourcing filters like the Microguard or current Mobil 1 in Vietnam and South Korea?
Highline Warren has taken over the Mobil 1 filter license, the ones I’ve seen strongly resemble Premium Guard out of Vietnam (VAFI). Generally at DOUBLE the price that PG EX filters are available elsewhere (AAP with discount codes, many AZ STP XLs, Parts Plus XLs).

How many of the Mann-Hummel brands are effected by the bankruptcy? It seems like everything they touch has taken a quality hit. Hate to admit it but the Vietnam and South Korean sourced filters seem to appear decent quality.

MicroGard (not Microgaurd) is one brand under Premium Guard Inc (PGI). MicroGard is only sold through O'Reilly. Just like Carquest Premium (another brand under PGI) is only sold through Carquest/Advance Auto Parts. As mentioned, the new Mobil 1 is under Highline Warren.

Never realized until this post it was “microgard”

Closest O'Reilly is about 50 miles just over the MD line in Towson, perhaps on my next trip in should check out the MicroGard filters, seems like a better option over the Mobil 1. Thoughts?

Yes, lots of options from premium guard. Someone has a pic of all of the brands they make filters for, but I always forget to save it
This one I bet.
