First Brands (Fram) bankruptcy

Filters are a complete commodity. Not saying I would want to run all of them, but Hengst, Mahle, Denso, Grupo Gohner and probably countless others I can't think of along with PG and there associated contract manufacturers, M&H, etc. make filters all over the world. The idea that there will be a filter shortage is a non starter.

Most likely someone buys the FRAM name and licenses it to one of the above. 95% of people will have no clue what happened or that anything did happen.

There hadn’t been been that much orange in O Reilly’s for awhile now
The big winner is already on the shelves.
I still see some orange at my local Walmart today, Thats prime shelf space that will need something to fill that space?

The market always finds away to fill in the holes when someone exits it. If there is special kind of idiot that just puts off changing their oil because they cannot find a FRAM filter, then they are a prisoner of their own mind.
Fram still has high brand recognition, just like Behr takes up the paint department at Depot.

Just Took Mom's '09 Taurus to Walmart for an oil change... made an appointment and everything....

W - we can't do the oil change, we're out of the Filters for that engine
(it's an early 3.5 cyclone, takes an FL-400s)
ME - you don't have any 3600's?
W- um, our system says 3614
ME - that's the smaller version, the 3600 is the same, just a bit taller.
W- umm... that may be, but if the computer says it's "A", we can't just put "B" on it..but if you had your own filter we could use that...
ME - you guys still carry Motorcraft?
W- Yeah
* I go 10 feet away to the aisle of Filters, grab an FL-400s ( the OE filter) off the shelf.
W- Man You're Lucky! that must be the last one, our system says we don't have any!

So i had to pay for the Filter ( they gave me a whole $1.77 discount) on top of the oil change....

when I had my C-max in to the same store a month ago, they were out of 3614's in the back as well, but the kid just went and got one off the store shelf, and Didn't upcharge me.....

you could stock up on these in case that happens again but they are a better filter anyway with a heavy discount : https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=16504789&cc=1443431&pt=5340&jsn=1440

Corporate idiocy has no peer in human society. Walmart can do some amazing things but foresight in their supply chain is a weakness? Hmmmm…..
Can you imagine when and if we ever have a conflict with China and sea trade stops cold...
Walmart will have nothing and in turn we will have nothing, From oil filters to tooth paste to prescription drugs...

Well, a lot of API(active pharmaceutical ingredient) comes from China and India. The final dosage form might be made here. Walmart and Amazon are the retail argonauts not to be taken lightly.

There is a picture somewhere here that shows mostly US made filters at Walmart. It seems the auto stores who outsourced their brands are where there will be nothing first. China needs our business that should be the medicine that keeps us from war with them.

Another case of me living in a hole. I stopped at Walmart yesterday for some oil and a Fram XG. The lady in the auto section said Fram was going out of business. I ended up buying the last one 2 the shelf.

As odd as it sounds, Fram is the filter that’ll keep my Jeep from excessively ticking. I guess I can try WIX again, but I remember it being very bad.

No one but us care. There too busy protecting Tesla from BYD and big tech AI from Chinese AI. But if the rest of us die from lack of pharma, not there problem. They will fly drugs in for the elites.

Most of the pharma I take comes from India if not USA. I think it’s because I buy the generics. There are domestic producers it costs much more.

I had some extra time on my hands one night and decided to track down the plant in Indian one of my meds is produced.
Did a Google Street View of the place. Was not as shocking If you YouTube India oil filters as my meds don't look to be produced by kids with no shoes sitting on a living room dirt floor ( like the oil filter video ) but I feel for my hard earned money I should get a bit better than India pharma...

Some China company will buy Fram just for the brand recognition, what happens after that who knows. Anyone else put that grippy stuff on oil filters? I really liked that about Fram filters
I'll admit at 16 in the 80's white letter Road Hugger tires and that bright Orange Fram Racing Oil filter made my first crap car just feel faster!
I will miss the bright orange can, perhaps a green color filter is in order...
