These would be with studs . Have deep sipes and aggressive tread design . Should be better with studs .

Pictures of the tread .

Be objective and don't seek out opinions you want to hear. In my opinion, that tire is dated. The GENERAL AltiMAX Arctic 12 appears to be a smarter choice for around the same price and is made in a 1st world country while the Firestones are made in places you wouldn't want to live. Both have 12/32 of tread when new. Both are studable.

Why? Where are the Firestones made?

That tire is made in Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Mexico per Tireracks info, depending on the size.

In that category (Studdable Winter / Snow) the Firestone is rated below the Cooper Evolution Winter and General Altimax Arctic. I have the Generals and would happily buy again (mine were made in Germany).

I ran them for 2 winters in rural WI. I will say they wore well and I had no issues with them. They were not studded. I drive a lot miles around 2000 miles a month so they were well used.
Performance was very good on all surfaces. I preferred the old square noisy tread design they had previously. Those tires would go through anything as they howled down the road. This tread design I thought ran very quiet.

The ARCTIC 12 sipes are not that deep ( 1/4 ? ) as the original ( ARCTIC ? ) that went to the base . That's why I went to COOPER Evolution Winter that are studdable along with the deep sipes . It's getting harder to find '15 winter tires with deep siping to the base and that are studdable .

Look like they would be good on ice with all those sipes. Plus they look manly.

💪 . The FIRESTONE Winterforce are a very close 🥈 to the GENERAL Altimax 12 at T.R. in Winter / Snow tires w/ studs rating . I'll take the benefit of deep sipes as a bonus in traction . Both are within a few dollars of one another .

I have them on 2 cars without studs. A tad noisy on dry pavement to be expected. But good in snow, slush, and even wet conditions. Also reasonably priced. I would buy them again without hesitation.

I ran the old version on a couple of different FWD cars. Both times they were studded and worked great. I like the new design even better!
