Working now. XS650, basically you are correct, but in this instance it turned out to be one of the multiple extensions. I got rid of all my extensions and it works great now. I will slowly add back the ones I really use and see what happens!

XS650, Have you ever tried Crossover Office?

Not yet. I'm a couple of months away from my next Linux adventure. Crossover doesn't handle the CAD program I use, but that's not a big problem, I have a second computer which will remain a Windoze box.

Yeah I have forgotten pop-ups!!

I downloaded a zillion extensions this AM. Tried them, tossed a few. FFox crashed once. I cleared my system out, rebooted. All is well.

BTW Cookieculler is a great extension. If you don't think you have any invasive stuff in FFox, you may want to check your cookies. There are some there. not necessarily all nasties, but there is some sneaky adware.

Thanks XS650!!

If you ares till using Outlook or Outlook Express for mail, give Thunderbird a try. It's close enough to Outlook Express that it's easy to switch to. It's more secure and is easily trainable to detect SPAM.

I was doing well with Thunderbird until I switched ISPs and got the full up version of Yahoo mail for free so am using it now as a web mail client. If I go back to pop mail again it will be Thunderbird.

Get used to Firefox, Thunderbired, then start using Open Office and switching to Linux will be painless because they all have Linux versions. At least that's my plan.

I'm still running 98 on my home computer and recently "upgraded" my father's computer from ME to 98.

If your having problems with FF try running it in safe mode to see if any extensions are screwing things up. If it still doesn't fix it just try reinstalling.

T-K - that's what fixed it for me. Too many dueling extensions......suddenly it started acting like IE
