A few months ago I updated my operating system and switched to an SSD. Just switched from an older version of linux mint to the latest version. Ever since then Ive had to do the captcha things or they want to send me a verification code to verify its actually me when logging on to various thing. I get it with more things than not if I have to log on. This website is one of the few I don't get it. Also getting emails about log ins from unrecognized devices anytime I log in. Its getting really old to say the least. I'm wondering what could be the cause of this because nothing else has changed here. I should mention I'm using firefox and sometimes chromium. Same as what I was using on the older version of the OS.

This sounds browser related - like no cookies are being saved.Maybe you have a plugin or setting to delete data or using incognito/privacy mede?

Do you have to enter your BITOG info every time you boot and use your PC?

Recently some web sites have tightened up security and I have gotten the confirmation emails from a few sites I visit. I think some drop a cookie in your browser as to keep you identified. I'm using Brave and when I close the browser it forgets everywhere I visited and deletes cookies. I think the same applies to verification codes.

I'm using Debian Linux.

Check your browser settings. Captcha does seem to happen more frequently now but usually only the first time I visit a site, or if I clear cookies.

I'm on Ubuntu.

Firefox, usually bundled with Linux of various flavors, has a setting to delete cookies on exit. I think they call iit privaye browsing mode.
I run into captchas from time to time regardless of which browser I'm using in Linux. I also have Chrome installed. Same websites will request captchas.

I deliberately set my browser (Brave) to forget and delete my history and cookies every time I close it. It's a privacy issue for me.
