Finally building a new PC

I'm partial to beige generic computer cases myself.

Make sure it has a Compaq sticker on it!

It's already really cool surprisingly, I think because the case is so open. The PSU breathes through the bottom, so I don't think I actually need any additional ventilation at this point.

It would benefit from a couple intake fans and another exhaust fan at the back; especially since your GPU vents back into the case. I have a completely open case with the CPU and GPU on their own aio radiators and I still have to put a desk fan to blow over the other components or I will start to notice micro stutters in very intense games.

You are probably taxing yours more than I am. I'm focusing on it being quiet and it'll play Age of Empires, WoT and Borderlands. I'll keep an eye on the GPU temp, but I am prioritizing quiet operation, which is why I went with the AIO cooler, because the stock AMD one would ramp the fan if you pushed the CPU much beyond idle.

Ah okay I think you'll be good too. It's really only one game, Warhammer 40K Darktide that I have microstutters, trying to push 2k res @ >100fps.

AoE2 was one of the first and best games I played as a child....150 units of the cobra car 😂

Yeah, when I play Borderlands GOTY Enhanced, I leave the 64fps limit in place (@ 2560x1440), GPU runs at about 52C (just finished playing for a few hours).

this is not a fit for your AM4 build but this L1 techs review of the asrock mobo is interesting

His comment about the quick release and ASUS patenting it is odd, given that ASRock is essentially the "Chevrolet" tier of ASUS, broken out from the parent to allow them to compete in the OEM market, but still owned by ASUS.

Lian Li, brings back memories.

I have a Power Mac G5 I want to stick a modern mATX motherboard and a AMD Ryzen 4 AM5 or an Intel Core Ultra 5 for laughs and giggles… someday. There’s a bit of work to get it done, the case conversion someone in the UK has a kit for. The PSU is a different story.

Super cool build, really like that case. Today I learned about Nobara Linux - gotta check that out.

Really wish I saw this first - my son and I just went intel for his build. (No reason, only because the AMD model numbers confuse me).

What kind of monitors are you running? Good call on the graphics card, it was a little out of our budget.

Running a pair of LG 32" screens at 2560x1440.
