Well I read about it here so I always open the box now. Today I was in that isle getting oil and I noticed a fellow (AKA scum bag) putting a white pure classic in an ultra box. He looked nervous and he knew I saw him, he threw it on top of the other ultra boxes and scurried off with a pure classic box loaded with the ultra element in his cart. I grabbed the ultra box with the pure in it and gave it to the auto center counter and she tore out after him. Well she was back in a few minutes and said he got away. I called [censored] and went and found him in line several people back from paying so I called the store and had a manager get him while he was in line. I stayed back as I don't need a confrontation that would end badly for him... Anyway from a distance I could tell he was saying he didn't know and he didn't do it. Whatever was said he walked and the manager walked away with filter in hand, scum bags. Buyer beware.

Yup, I was working in a Walmart TLE for a while, and I would find 3-4 switched filters almost every day.

Another thing I saw stolen a lot were combination locks and padlocks, kind of ironic lol

Piece of [censored] people ruin the world for the rest of us.

That's shoplifting and he should have taken the ride downtown for his efforts.

I agree they should have not let him walk. I wonder if they don't have video over that section? And why should I confront him. He would just spin it as he did nothing wrong. Or no speak the English!!!! Or start a fight and force me to defend myself... Either way me confronting him would not do anything except maybe ruin my day. As it was at least he was called out in line with lots of other people around him.

When I was buying a baby car seat 22 years ago I looked under the display behind some sliding storage doors and here was a bunch of empty stereo boxes. Eventually a clerk helped me find the one I wanted and he said it is a spot in the store not covered by cameras and so the scum know it and go there and take them out of the boxes to defeat the security tag and ditch the boxes there. Now they lock the stereos and make you pay for them when you take them out of the locked stg. But the scum never change.

Its not shop lifting until past the registers. You can swap filters and boxes and push your cart all around the store if you wish

Aren't the ultra boxes sealed? I haven't checked them recently because I don't buy oil from Walmart anymore. I remember a few years ago is when I saw this for the first time. Back then, the ultra boxes weren't sealed. I picked up the oil filter for our vehicle, and opened up the box to check the filter, someone had swapped it with a cheap filter, I was horrified and disgusted, and I remember thinking, "What is this world coming to?"

Walmart must have provided feedback to Fram or something because shortly thereafter the new stock of Ultra boxes were sealed.

Easy to remove or cut the seal on the Ultra boxes ... see them opened all the time. People might open them just to inspect the filters too.

They are topped off with a circle thingy of tape. I just bought 5 today. Could be different packaging in the USA though.

What about people that buy paint from Home Depot use half the can and fill it up with water.... return for refund.

At PepBoys people swap out the Royal Purple oil filter with a Purolator Classic.

yup had the little circle seal that he may have pushed back down had he not noticed me looking at him, who knows as that was the dump, not the intended theft. It had sticky on it still when I took it back but I don't know if it would have stayed down.

din't matter when it became shoplifting if the store was not willing to let him pay then catch him and show him doing it on video. Seemed almost like I was the pain, not the thief!!!!

Oh well I get a better deal on Amazon anyway. But if I do buy at a retailer I will open it before paying.

I think "Skanky" handled the situation fine. These days you do not know what that [censored] had on him. I would have gave a statement to police if it got that far and let the WM security deal with that individual.

90% chance those filters went back on the shelf in the wrong box. You were wasting your time. They most likely confronted the guy to keep you from bugging them.

You did the right thing Skanky.
