I am currently running Puro L20195 with Mobile Super 5w30 with 4k oci on my 05 Tacoma 4.0. Purolator along with Napa/Wix filters are becoming more difficult to find locally so I'm looking for suggestions on other comparable filters. Thanks!

Or go to Amazon and buy enough to get free shipping. I like RockAuto but hate their shipping charges.

The Toyota Denso may be a good lower priced one, or the TRD from a dealer for a higher priced. I am second guessing the whole thing, spending money online and now have too many old filters. If I had to do again, I would just buy one Ultra at a time from Walmart as needed and pay the full price, or use the Toyota filter. Regardless of what is said, I feel you can't go wrong using the oil filter the car maker provides as original parts.

Toyotas will take common Motorcrafts, great quality filter value and priced at about 4 bucks everywhere. Great pick for 4k OCIs.

Exactly. Not much else matters if you don't get pass this step. The vast majority of oil filters never get checked for internal wear/damage. Not once in my earlier 40 years of driving did I ever consider an oil filter tearing on a 3K OIC. Now I have to consider it.

Fram Ultra or OEM. The OEM filters are solid and not expensive either. I will most likely go back to the OEM Toyota filters after I am done with the Fram Ultra I installed. I dont run my OCI out long enough to make it worth using a Fram Ultra, although I might run the Fram Ultra again since I changed oil only 3 months ago and less than 3500 kms on it.
OP, two ways to go on this... either use the Fram Ultra for 3 OCI's (getting your money's worth and using filter well) or go with the OEM Toyota filters.. a 4k OCI is very short.. like prev posted said.. also can try motorcraft if one fits.. any cheap filter should work fine.. even a Fram orange can.

The cross-reference Motorcraft for that Puro filter is the FL400s - the same filter I run on my Fusion. Yes, it's a 2.5 and not a 4.0, but I've seen many cut-and-posts for the FL400s, and every last one of them looked pristine, regardless of the engine it was run on.
Why not go with those? Less than $4 at Walmart, Autozone, etc..
I can definitely say that from everything I've seen and read, the FL400s is superior to the Puro L20195.

No Wix/NG anywhere? Hard to imagine. You must be really remote.
Fram another good choice. EG for 4k miles. TG for up to 10k miles.
