Since the oil filter on my 05 4.0 Tacoma is mounted vertically with the open end facing down, I want to make sure the ADV in the Napa Gold 1516 I plan to use will do its job. I am going oversized. Thanks for your feedback.
You're looking for a 3/4-16 thread filter with what's called a "stand pipe". It's designed for engines with inverted filters. The stand pipe keeps the filter from draining "forward".
There's a thread here ..somewhere. Otherwise, you should have no problem finding plenty of bigger filters. I didn't realize your application in the other thread. I think you're only limited by having to close the hood.

Here's a couple of threads with pics talking about oversized filters for a Tacoma/Toyota. Notice, one member used an oversized PL10241 with no issues. No standpipe mentioned but seemed to work fine.
Yeah, Supe didn't seem to need a stand pipe. I guess it would be a nice added feature. It would be one pimped out lube system. Over sized and tricked out.
