I noticed that the oil filters for my 4 cyl(2.0L) Contour, FL-200 and 8 cyl(4.6L) F-150, FL820S are about the same size, different thread sizes though. Patman can confirm this with his Purolator catalog. My question is whether my 4 cyl filter is overkill, if there is such a thing, or my 8 cyl filter is inadequate, which I'm sure is possible. If the 8 cyl filter is too small do I have any realistic alternative for increasing the filter size. Mind you I've not crawled under the truck to see how much room there is to install a larger filter, if it exists. It's friggen cold outside right now. I have a 4X4 truck. The filter would have to have the same metric threads as the stock filter. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I can't tell you if the filter is too small, but there are currently no "larger" filters that are equivalent to the FL-820s. Some folks have changed that by installing a remote filter setup and changing the filter size at the saem time.

I'm using the FL-1A on my 3L Taurus. It inceases my oil capacity from a little over 5qts to 6qts. Definately makes me abit less worried about running it up to 7300rpms.

For the Hyundai, list the filter PN/brand and someone will answer what MIGHT fit. It all depends on excess 'elbow room' that YOU must check, measure and figure out.

Fair enough. The Purolator filter part # is L14459. Fram's is PH3593A. AC Delco is PF1127. Anyone know what largest size will be compatible with these part #s?

Thanks.

Raptor6;

I'm trying the WIX equivalent to the PF52 in my 3.4L...I'll let you know if any probs. Looks nice in there though, plenty of room.
