I recently sold my acura and noticed its filler is compatible with mobil m108 which i'm currently using on my subaru, but the filter is a lot smaller. Am I safe to use it?

Absolutely do not use it if you're running something thick like a straight weight, 15W40 or 20W50 in colder weather. The filter has the wrong bypass setting and isn't what Subaru specifies.

#7317(any brand that uses this numbering system) is the larger filter to the #6607.
And there is most likely an even larger filter# for your app.

Your sold Acura in greatest likelihood spec'd the 7317 application, which for M1 is the M1-110(A). The M1-108(A) is the shorter version 6607 equivalent shown in the STP 6607 box. It's ~.75 " shorter and frequently used in place of the 7317 by quick lubes and some shops. Looking at just one Subaru Forester forum thread (recent), folks commenting there use the M1-108(A)/6607 and M1-110(A)/7317 interchangeably. Imo, safe to use either application on your Subaru.
