It's a great engine. I have about 210K miles on it.

I run Mobil 1 5w30 and it works. I need a good filter for it, preferably extended.

Is that a variation of the LS engine ?

I drove a 2007 Silverado company truck with either 240,000 or 260,000 miles on it , before it was traded off . I think it probably had something like a 4.8 l V-8 .

makes sense
I got the advance auto parts filter, the Purolator. It looks kind of compact. I will use it for this oil change, was just wondering if there is a bigger one.

Napa Platinum (Wix XP) on sale seems to be the best value. It was on sale last month for $6.49. The sale is over, but it will go on sale again eventually.

Otherwise, since you already use Mobil 1, just buy the Mobil 1 filter with those parts store oil change bundles.

Well, I did the annual oil change. I didn't put that many miles on it over the year. Especially given the reduced driving over the last few months.

On every Fram 10060 application I’ve used the Fram XG10575 (little longer) …
my 2017 5.3L calls for that longer filter …

Ultra is a long lasting filter but mine gets changed at every oil change.
The filter may last but I like as much new oil as I can at the oil change.
Got a wix xp on my 5.3 now

Bump for some more questions... 07 Tahoe with the same 5.3L V8

I usually run LiquiMoly Molygen 5W30 or Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 as much truck has 171k miles. On either of those oils I burn almost no oil!

What is the difference between the Fram UG and TG filters? It seems the UG runs up to 20k miles but doesn't filter as well as the TG - is that correct? How long can the TG last?

I've also read about several people using "longer" filters on the truck since it has the clearance - what advantage does this have? I usually change the oil ever 5-8k miles and never exceed 8k -- I usually go by the OLM in the truck or change it out around 30% life left.

Thanks in advance.
