2014 Ford Fusion. 2.5 motor with 34,000 miles on car. First magnet run for 5,000 miles oci.

I think the magnet pics could have shown a little better but the filter was small and trying to cut it open with the magnets on made the magnets slide all over.

Replaced with a Fram Ultra.

I have a magnetic drain plug on my Volvo. It always has a grey paste on it at oil change time. They work but would that residue been captured by the filter anyways?

Possibly. But I think the magnets catch particles much smaller in micron size than filters are made to catch.
