Well I have 2350 miles on the factory fill on my new 2012 Tacoma. Today I took delivery of a case of amsoil 0w20 OE, plus a box of Toyota oil filters. So when do you guys think I should change it? Im sure Im gonna get mixed reviews. I ordered it this early because on all my new vehicles I always drain the FF no longer than 2000 miles.
Also I am impressed with the Toyota oil filter 90915-YZZG1. The end cap has the same markings on it as a purolator. And it has a nitrile drain back valve. I think they were a bargin for a box of 10 for $40 bucks WITH shipping. Plus my local dealer wanted 9 dollars and change for just 1. One thing I did notice on the filter was the base of the gasket has a rounded edge to it where as most aftermarket ones are flat. I noticed a lot of other factory one like Honda, hyundai and subaru have the rounded gasket. Does anyone know if its retaines a better seal?
And I am well aware of Toyotas 2 year maintenance plan for every new vehicle. But I have had a very bad experience with my local dealer. And I do not want to give them the extra business.
Plus I change oil and tires for a living, so for me to do it on my own truck and car is enjoyment!
