Female torx sockets

Looking for a decent set of female torx (E- designation, I think) sockets. I may be getting a CDI Mercedes diesel, and these type fasteners seem prevalent.

Supposedly some don’t go deep enough in the socket, which can cause issues. Semi deep may be even better.

Also, wrenches that have that pattern?

Every one at my work including me has this neiko set. Also the gear wrench set. The gear wrench set is $175 on the tool truck too.

Been using Hazet and Snap-on for several years. Probably prefer Hazet because of the knurled ring.

Deep are not typically necessary. Reduced chamfer or low-profile are needed sometimes. Snap-on has a few singles like this.

The Husky e-torx set at Home Depot is made in Taiwan and work fine, as do the Lisle sockets (once USA made, not sure about now).

Can’t say that I have needed e-torx wrenches very often, but Snap-on has a nice set for $$ and there are some shorter Taiwan made sets for much less $$. I needed one of the long Snap-On for a job and purchased as a single.

Hazel - that’s a good idea. Would prefer not to buy far east. Would prefer domestic made, but sometimes euro stuff has a finish or feel that I prefer.

I use the Hazet 90% of the time. Ended up with a full set in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive. They always fit well. I can understand wanting to stay USA made if possible, which will likely be Snap-on. I don't think there are any Wright, Proto, or Williams E-torx sockets, unless something has changed recently. The MAC E-torx are made in Taiwan.

The Snap-on 210AFLEY is a pretty good set, E4-E8 in 1/4" drive and E10-E18 in 3/8" drive. If the clutch ever needs replacing in your BMW, the 3/8" E18 comes in handy for one of the transmission-to-engine mounting bolts.

Snap-on 213AFLEY has a little more range, E4-E10 in 1/4", E11-E14 in 3/8", and E16-E24 in 1/2".

I have a nice $30 Proto Blackhawk set from EBay, along with:
1/4-e10 (Snap-on)
1/4-e10 (CTA) Universal socket
3/8 e12 (Sunex) Universal socket

My BMW is mostly e10 & e12

I also picked up a chinese made etorx wrench set for $12 on prime day. Useful in a pinch?

Hazet used to sell the same set the MB were issued, I have some Hazet and Stahlwille, the Stahlwille is the better fitting tool. I have others but nothing you would probably be interested in like Sunex impact, Genius impact, Capri torx master set, that have all been really good, made in Taiwan. Look at Koken also.

My Capri torx master set has them, I have not used them but the other torx bits in the set seem to be good quality

In the "You may also like" section are other socket sets including color coded ones.
The colors make me think of aluminum. Then I think, "How can that be?"

A brand that never failed me is Proxxon.
They are not available in the US but often pop in searches on Amazon US for a seller on Amazon UK who ships to the US.

I have a couple different sets - go with quality. The Lisle I started with isn’t that good. The Hazet and Ko-Ken are excellent.

In selecting a set - consider getting a set with 1/4” drive E10. Most sets have a 3/8” drive E10, but that 3/8” E10 simply will not fit in some spaces on my Mercedes engines.

In fact, I bought the Hazet 1/4” drive E10 years ago, as a single piece, because there were jobs I could not do with the 3/8” E10.

I have not used them a lot -- the most was struts and brakes on KL Cherokees -- but I've got this random set from Amazon. It's presently a whopping ~$13. It's been perfectly fine. I do now have some better options only because they came along as good deals.

I know this will not interest OP due to COO but I'm just offering an option for other budget conscious readers who find this thread
