felt washers for batteries

I use the black NOCO ones. They cost $0.97.

One suggestion I can offer is never, ever, ever, ever, as in not ever: Don't ever throw away a plastic sleeve that goes around a battery. This is often if the battery is under the hood. I did that on my 1998 Maxima (reason was I went from a 24 to a 35 battery, the 35 being free to me and smaller--car had 24F from factory if it had a cold weather package). About 6 years later, my front left fender began to rust away from gassing.

I doubt using the plastic sleeve would have made any difference if the rusting was actually due to off-gassing from the battery. How would the plastic sleeve prevent the corrosive fumes from venting out of the battery? The majority of cars on the road don't have battery sleeves nor inner fenders rusting due to battery fumes. Remember, correlation is not always causation.

Working at Advance Auto, they always pushed us to sell these with every battery we sold. We were supposed to sell them with at least 35% of battery sales.

Personally, I prefer not to use them and just occasionally spray a shot of Fluid Film on my battery terminals. Works just as well if not better.

I have used them for years as it seemed when I didn't, I had a mess to clean up.
I probably have a lifetime supply of them, as I stocked up on them when Harbor Freight was clearing them out for a quarter a package.
Also, got my free magnetic bowl with a coupon, as well.
