This is the second time this happened in a week. My package was on the truck for delivery and then the guy doesn't show up the entire day and I check the tracking info and it says delivery not attempted. [censored]? So now I have to wait the whole weekend for my package since it was shipping to a business. Why would he have not delivered it?

I work for the Navy fixing submarines and they are always prompt. Not only that they are prompt with my private stuff. Not sure what happened to you. Maybe just the driver on your route?

Was the pkg coming FedEx Express or FedEx Ground? They are actually two different operating companies (OpCos) within the same corporation. Express (overnight or two-day definite services) will refund shipping charges to whoever was paying the bill if not delivered on time. Ground merely has an estimated delivery day; no money-back guarantee, though.

I started with Federal Express in 1981, retired in 2012. Many of us did not like the separate operating company idea (i.e. Express, Ground, Freight, Trade Networks, Services, Office (Kinkos), etc), or even the names of the OpCos. The badging of the other units as FedEx, but lack of integration just dragged our reputation down (hence this thread) imho. In Kent, WA, where I worked, there was an Express office, Freight office, Ground Home Delivery office, Office printshop, and an Office office! Express heavyweight (outsized cargo) at SeaTac airport nearby, and a Ground office, Trade Networks office, and Services base to boot. Talk about confusing, and I am referring to the FedEx employees. The average customer was completely lost.

Before I retired, periodically would be one of three different FedEx trucks at a business. Was hoping to see four at the same time, but never did.

I have stuff shipped to my local FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos) location. It usually arrives by 9am and I can pick it up at my leisure. If it's something that needs a signature, I don't have to chase down the driver after they leave a door tag.

Hold For Pickup at a FedEx Office location can be a great option so one doesn't need to sit around waiting for the package to arrive.

Hey, at least it didn't say delivery attempted, or even worse... delivered. There could be a number of reasons it was not delivered.

I'm a journeyman diesel semi mechanic for UPS Ground.
FedEx Ground drivers DO NOT receive the pay and benefits earned by FedEx Express drivers.
FedEx Ground drivers are NOT company employees and get shafted.

When UPS says: "out for delivery", I get the stuff that afternoon. Never fails!

Driver may have had too much in his truck to deliver and took it back to the yard? When I worked for Conway Southern Express, that would happen occasionally.

Oddly I got a could not deliver from FedEx last week so returned to Amazon and money refunded as it stated could not deliver to address. Luckily nothing I need right away.

My wife and I likely get about 300ish items/year from Amazon.com Prime and they always deliver USPS, UPS, and FedEx.

Its not like they don't know our house

I've never had an issue with FedEx or UPS. If we're not home the packages are always left on the bench on the front porch or next to the front door.

A few years ago we had a new UPS driver on our route. Ours is a long uphill driveway leading to the house. He didn't like going up the drive, and when it was snowy or slick the past drivers would just park on the road and carry the package. This driver decided to toss it in the ditch next to the mailbox. I was sitting in my office and watched him do it.

I went down, retrieved the package and made a phone call to UPS. I spoke with a very nice lady who looked up the information and the driver had claimed the package was "left at front door". I informed her what had happened and she promised to look into it.

The next day she called back and told me it wouldn't happen again, and once more apologized for the issue.

That driver was never seen here again, and I assume he was either fired or moved elsewhere within UPS. Every other UPS and FedEx driver has been great, including our current ones.

Our postal service has always been good; my only complaint is their lack of package tracking.

I bought an oil filter so I could have changed my oil this weekend if would have came yesterday. Now it will have to wait another week.

I usually get my stuff delivered on the scheduled delivery date from FedEx or UPS, but I have noticed something that UPS has been doing lately that has caused delays in shipping time. They have recently started doing this process where they turn the package over to the USPS for final delivery. Any time I have received a package when they use this method, delivery has been delayed by a day or two. Even though the delays are probably due to the USPS, it looks bad on UPS...they might want to reconsider this process...
