I'm using it again, and was doing great on it, they graded me a "B" so far because I slipped and got 2 hard braking incidents in the first 4 weeks. You have to be thinking about the device every second you're driving, because if you don't and if you step on the brake harder than the device allows, it racks up a hard braking incident for you. And if you turn too abruptly, it racks up a fast acceleration incident for you. I have not had an insurance claim in so many years I've lost count, yet they're going to not give me the discount I deserve because of this plugin device. And each time I notice an incident on my Snapshot report, I feel bad about it. I'm really looking forward to the day when I send it back to them. IMHO it's not worth the stress you feel when you get a hard braking or fast acceleration. I drive a Toyota Prius. I just feel like I'd rather pay a higher premium and just knot bother with the Snapshot device anymore. I just do not like that thing. I don't know why they can't just give me a good discount based on the number of years I've been with no claims. Greed, I guess.

If this device complains while driving a Prius, I can't imagine what it would have done while driving my old SRT.

I started using State Farm's Drive Safe and Save 6 weeks ago when I renewed insurance. The app shows how much I'll save when I renew on November 1st. It will be interesting to see if that amount appears on my next bill. I have had a few hard braking and acceleration events. It's nothing to feel bad about. I'll continue to use it for at least 6 months.
Screw that thing. No freaking way I'm allowing anything like that in any of my vehicles (Until of course big brother mandates it and/or the manufacturers get in co-hoots with the insurance companies and simply build an interface into the cars)

I had one simply to get the 15% discount for 6 months to try it. Gave it back after that 6 months and I’m convinced if you drive how that thing wants you to drive you’re far far more dangerous. I had a hill with a stop sign at the top that doing absolutely anything more than coasting up it would trigger a hard braking event. Allstate considered anything over 7 or 8mph per second “hard braking” and anything over 10mph “extreme braking.” You barely feel 7mph per second in a 6,000lb vehicle.
Couple that annoyance with working till 3 or 4 in the morning and I was always driving in “moderate” to “high” risk times, despite NOBODY being on the road.

my wife’s commute pulls from a stop sign onto a 65mph single lane state highway. Tons of lumber trucks and dump trucks doing 70-75.

Those devices are a joke. If you drive the way it deems "acceptable", you'll have a traffic jam 10 miles behind you haha!
They can shove that OBD2 dictatorial "control unit" up their ars. What...... more people wanting to control more people seems to be the world theme these days. And it seems to all be coming from one side. Cough.
I was offered one of those things last time I talked to my insurance agent about lowering my rates (state farm) I declined and told them that I'd rather spend a little more than have big brother watching me. He smiled and said a lot of folks feel that way.

Guess they'd rather have a driver slam into someone instead of using their brakes appropriately or an evasive move when some bonehead cuts you off or pulls out in front of you.
I'd never install one of those Big Brother devices on any vehicle.

Because it IS political. "They" have made EVERYTHING political. It's like we have to fight against a "critical mass cult " (we are) everyday screwing everything up.
