Maybe we need a "pledge of allegiance" for each forum so people don't have "disagreements". I pledge to the oil filter forum I won't use low efficiency oil filters and ones that tear. I pleadge to the PCMO forum I won't use thin oil and less than dexos1 Gen2.

Even though we've never been on FB it caused us much unnecessary additional grief during and after a crushing family tragedy. If someone showed me the FB kill switch I'd flip it without hesitation.
While I dislike the platform itself, what really stoked the fires of my considerable, and ever growing misanthropy, was the need for humans, my so called friends, and some Family, to get atop their soapboxes, spew their ignorant partisan politics, and memes., and just attack anyone who did not give them a thumbs up, or like or whatever they apparently live for, just to post on FB.
I am not sure whether I should be thankful for the insight into that pathetic morally corrupt POS's they are, and have since removed them from my life, or be be regretful that since I joined FB, lasted a few years of minimal participation, and then deleted my Account, I now have many fewer people in my life that I consider worthy of friendship, and so many whom I regret ever having once considered worthy of friendship. Had I not joined FB I might still consider them friends, just friends whom I had not seen in a while.
Now that I know who they are via their self marketing FB BS, good riddance.
There were people on my Fb friends list, who did nothing to irritate me, but the whole platform had to go.
Kind of wished I reached out to those whom I still respect, before deletion, but it had to go, quickly.
Also, Just as I refuse to feed the malignant narcissists needing validation, I don't want to put even 0.03 cents into Mr zucker....Mfer berg's pocket.

I'm not commenting on your family's situation but will say that FB didn't cause anything. The person that posted it did. They could have done the same via text message, phone calls, even hand-written letters sent by the post office.
I bailed out on FB years ago. No need to provide a long list of issues, we all know what they are.

I knew someone would say this. The situation was more than one person and FB the platform and the FB mindset-groupthink-lifestyle was the problem. Believe me. Show me the switch.
FB is even worse than it used to be and now censors and non-persons people for even mild comments.
The FB app is like installing an octopus virus into your phone. Its tentacles gobble up your info.
It was good for a while being able to tell famous, powerful people why they are wrong and know they are probably reading it.
Twitter's new CEO is increasing the censorship. Twitter actually used to be pretty good, relatively speaking. Gettr is already done for due to its censorship. Trump's new social media site probably won't be far behind in failing for the same reason. GAB is the only free speech social media platform.

Anyone is free to develop their own "platform" and make ALL of the rules or have no rules at all.
Or simply AVOID all social media crap that in some cases leads to mental health problems.
Something is wrong if people have to be constantly checking their social media, if not they have anxiety and mental breakdown.

Well, sort of. Parler did that, and then Apple and others removed the app from their servers. The powers that be tried to do the same to GAB, but GAB has its own servers.
Though GAB almost went under due to the powers that be denying service to payment processors/banks, and the only reason GAB still exists as a place for free speech is because it was accepting payments from physical checks and bitcoin.
Banks, credit cards, Paypal, etc, are denying service to people based on not liking what the people posted on Facebook. Some people will tell those people, hey, if you don't like it, just make your own bank.
At some point, they'll try to deny you internet service based on your opinions. "Just make your own internet."
