How are these looking? More or less all of them look open but they individually look so small in real life, is this normal?

In my experience, a typical down the tube shot of louvered tube with camera angle likely giving an inclusive and/or inaccurate view. That said, don't trust them, if possible return for refund or cut it open remove the media and post pics. Simple solution.
 
Looks ok to me. The leaf spring leaking is a whole ‘nother reason not to use these filters

Champ/Fram could have hit a home run with these filters but instead hit a sac fly.
 
Those look pretty good. It's pretty obvious when they are really choked down ... even by just looking down the center tube, which is the only way you can judge them before buying or using a filter with louvers. If a camera can get a good angle shot down a center tube, then a person can to with their eyes and a good flashlight. Your camera shot shows well the state they are in.

Here's some examples of bad louvers that nobody should use. If they are small slits, then they are choked down.

How about these ... just bumps and louvers were never formed. Someone might have used a filter like this not even knowing about louvers.
