With two bouts of C19 my sense of smell has gone down to about half, like barely.![]()
Sometimes its less about the scent and more about how you're feeling when you always notice it. Positive feedback loops etc.

I've read that your sense of smell is hard wired into the brain's limbic system.
Oh yea, alfalfa is up on the list for sure. Red clover is also great, but not many fields of that around anymore.“Hit a tripwire of smell and memories explode all at once. A complex vision leaps out of the undergrowth.” --Diane Ackerman, from A Natural History of the Senses.
Additions to the list:
Fresh-cut Alfalfa
Southwest Reno in the still of early morning
Ponderosa Pine
Add febreeze, and the smell of jet a or 100LL at the airport in the morning. Most people give me weird looks. Apparently it's an airplane thing....What's your favourite scent? A couple of mine:
- fresh cat grass with gasoline vapors swirling around
- two stroke exhaust on an early morning river ride, bonus points for some fog
Good memories of everything Clubman and also as a kid when my Dad would splash on his Brute 33Pinaud Clubman after shave. Brings back childhood memories in the neighborhood barbershop.
