Favorite Weather Forecast Source

Because of how hyperbolic some forecasters act, I will always take in numerous sources. It's surprising how much difference their conclusions can be.

For current observations, I use Weather Underground as there is a station about 200' from my home.

National Weather Service at weather.gov

Read the forecast discussions in addition to just the forecast - it sheds a lot of light into how they arrived at the forecast and how confident they are in it. Even the NWS from time to time will admit the forecast is literally a best guess based on their intuition, past weather, and trying to reach a consensus from a bunch of models that don't all line up or reach different conclusions.

It also is beneficial with snow forecasts or snow right around the freezing temp that snow amounts may be sharpy cutoff or if the transition to snow or ice does or doesn't happen, the forecast amounts may be off..

I have accuweather and apple weather on my phone. Wife has weatherbug. It's amazing how far apart all 3 can be. I don't know who to believe sometimes. One app might say 80% chance of rain the next day while the other might say 10%

For entertainment and when big weather is in the area I'll stream Ryan Hall Yall on YouTube.

All of our TV weather forecasters are predicting a multi day snow storm for central North Carolina this weekend to include a long run of very low temperatures. Of course these TV stations sensationalize any weather event to keep folks glued to the TV. What weather source (other than local TV) do you follow that seems accurate?
Noaa, and in Colorado I like cdot. They tend to keep up with conditions throughout the state.

As others have said, NOAA. I use a 3rd party app on Android that pulls NOAA data. If you like hour by hour granular data, this is the one you want. You can customize the hourly chart for what you want to see. No precip today but the lower part of the graph shows hourly totals there too.

My wife is fond of a content creator on Youtube who goes by “Ryan Hall, Y’all”. He’s in southern Appalachia, so we’re partial to his opinion of the weather around here.

I feel your pain, here on the Southeast NC coast.border with SC
The weather is almost never correct until the last 12 hours or so. We go through summers mostly ignoring the forecast because it changes so often.
Anyway, just in the last 24 hours or so I think they raised what was to be our low temperatures by about 8 degrees or more. So for us, looking just like a rain event which not to long ago presented maybe up to 1/2 inch of ice which would be devastating

For the record, I go with NOAA all the time (aka weather.gov) as I have for 50 years. Still remember my Radio Shack NOAA weather radio from the 1970s ish. IN the shape of a cube. Part of this was we were avid boaters on Long Island and in addition to the weather was the off shore forecast as well.

BTW- this was on year ago today that I took this photo in our community Southeast NC

Yes I remember that one. My grandkids in Hampstead played in the snow all day.

If your looking to track this particular storm, from what I have read online so far this is tracking the European model pretty well. You can find the European model here, and it will update. You can jump ahead to what the model is predicting in 3 hour increments from when the model last ran. Shown below is predicted Sunday AM at 7:00. Purple is freezing rain.

This website BTW is best I have found for tropical storms.

I just wish that the different sources weren’t so far off all the time. For instance, the Weather Network is saying that we’re going to get 8 inches of snow this Sunday. AccuWeather says 1-3 🤦‍♂️ I prefer getting my forecasts from the Weather Network as I like the way their app presents everything. All of the other apps that I have are annoying with the way they show the information. But one beef I have with all of them is the lack of information after a storm is over, it’s so hard to find the snow totals.
