02 Grand Caravan. When we turn the heat on there are four or five settings to blow out the heat on the dial. Low works and the highest setting works but others don't, they blow on low.

Does that whole unit need to be replaced or the dial or any other trouble shooting?

Thanks.

It is probley your blower motor resistor. It is eather located below the blower motor or on the pass side firewall on the heat/ac box.

I am still awfully green when it comes to repairs and where/what stuff does...so where is the blower motor? And are they expensive and hard to repair?

Thanks.

The resistor for a Toyota Camry is about 30 bucks. Call a dealer and ask them for the location of the resistor.

That sounds like a resistor. Replacing the resistor is pretty easy, but you may have to remove things like fluid resivoirs to reach it. On my Explorer, it was located on the bottom of the blower, which is mounted on the far left (passenger)side of the firewall. I had to remove the coolant and washer resivoirs, cruise control solenoid, and a couple other things to reach it. The part ran about $20 from Ford.

On my Cavalier, it's only 3 screws to remove the fan. Then just pull the circuit board, and install a new one. Everything can be done from right inside the car without removing anything extra. Simplicity was one of the reasons I bought the car.
