SLO is a beautiful area of California, away from the hubbub of the urban areas. Like going back in time a little IMO.

Haha. Salinas? Really? Is the elevation of Salinas 1,000 feet? Is Salinas in the Santa Lucia mountains? Is Salinas "Cali's Central Coast Wine Country? Are you new to the state?

We live in Templeton off of Hwy 46 west, on the way to Cambria.

And by the way, I grew up in Los Gatos starting from a young age (1959) and spent most of my adult life there. In fact, many of the now the prized homes on Glen Ridge Drive/Pennsylvania Avenue were run down drug houses when I was in my teens. Some were rented by some truly bad [censored] characters. When I was a young lad my Mom and I used to go to the movies in Saratoga, when the movie theater was a quonset hut. One night when we were there a tarantula crawled up on a woman. I'll never forget her scream! Jeez, I must be PTSD over that event. :-)

We moved from Los Gatos to Templeton in 2002. Although I will always miss Los Gatos in ways, the entire San Francisco Bay area has turned into a mad house. Aside from Los Gatos, I genuinely hate it up there now. I worked 28 years as a systems engineer for a well known Silicon Valley company that no longer exists. I enjoyed a great career. The greatest company and colleagues ever.

You know your California geography!

The land area of San Luis Obispo County is 3,616 sq/mi, with a population of 285,000. The land area of Santa Clara Country is 1,304 sq/mi, with a population of 2 million. In that respect, yes, it's like going back in time. There is actual geographic separation between communities. It used to be that way up in Santa Clara County too when I was a young lad. For my Dad's job I used to drive around with him. Just driving from Los Gatos to Mountain View was like going on an expedition. I remember driving through miles of orchards, out in the middle of nowhere, to get from one town to another.

Just for grins, take a trip up to the Testarossa winery in Los Gatos. They have some FANTASTIC photos of the South Bay in its youth. My gawd it was GORGEOUS back then! Those pictures will cause you to reflect on what the meaning of "progress" really is.
