Fake dual exhaust--does anyone know where that came from?

Yep, the F-body was definitely one such vehicle that had a Y-pipe off the engine, then a large single, then it split back again at the rear.

The current trend with two "tips" but one of them fake is even wilder as you see them in the winter and there's only exhaust coming out the one side, lol.

Two cats though. I think they did it for room and cost cutting.
Caprice is true duals, Malibu is fake.

IIRC, wasn't the late 70's F-body single pancake cat? Or was that only on the smaller engine?

To be honest I don't know. I was only talking 4th gen. 3rd gen maybe like that too.

My '15 Honda Accord I4 Sport has a wonderful single to dual. I believe the muffler cases are SS- two years in they were gurgling in the winter, they didn't have drains like some muffler's but were soon equipped with holes- 2 cups of water drained out of each one. Here's hoping they'll last some time.

The latest trend is going away from pipes sticking out the back. You get some grill like accents or whatever at the rear now.
